Physical Education

The Sathya Sai School of Toronto-Canada expanded to our current and permanent facility in September 2016. This expansion resulted in our first official sized student (K-8) gymnasium. This has allowed us to improve and offer a larger and wider physical education component to our educational program. The Sathya Sai School’s sports program is based around a culture of competitive spirit and ambition combined with a central focus on compassion for our bodies and self-care regarding our health. Academic excellence and happiness go hand-in-hand with health and fitness.

Sports

We have recently initiated a Senior Girls Volleyball team and a Senior Boys Basketball team. These teams have weekly practices to build skill and team camaraderie. Thanks to our involvement in the Small School Athletic Federation, the Sathya Sai School has a new and growing competitive sports program. The 2019-2020 year, our boys’ basketball team won their very first game that was played against another school.

Our Founder Chancellor, Sathya Sai Baba, has emphasized the tremendous importance sports has for character and leadership development. Many of his educational institutions in India and around the world have significant sports and physical education components. Our school is looking forward to further expansion into other sports, to offer more sports and athletic opportunities for our students.

Yoga

Yoga is a unique and compulsory program that supports our sports program and the greater mission of the school as a whole. It creates a culture of love and compassion for our bodies, discourages sports-based injuries and tempers the mind into a serene state. Both concentration and flexibility are greatly improved. It is one of the most beloved programs within the school among the student body from K-8.

Dance is a popular curricular program. Sathya Sai School has an extensive dance program for K-8, staffed by instructors with experience in a variety of modern and classical dance forms. The Mezzanine is equipped with a full-wall mirror and professional dance barre to assist students’ in their dance training.
