Sathya Sai Education in Human Values (SSEHV) Program

The SSEHV program is an international value-based program structured around the five cross-cultural and inter-related values of truth, love, peace, right conduct and non-violence.

The program is taught using five teaching components through a variety of adaptable methodologies. The five teaching components are:

  1. Thought for the Day
  2. Light Meditation
  3. Group Singing & Music
  4. Group Activities
  5. Story Telling

The methodologies include the direct, extra-curricular and integral methods. The direct method utilises all five teaching components through a number of specifically designed lesson plans, designed to be used directly in the classroom. The extra curricular method attempts to integrate the program into previously existing clubs, playground, sporting and after-school care activities. The integral method incorporates the five values into the whole curriculum and learning environment.

The program is designed not as an attempt to dictate or impose values, but rather to provide the children with a frame of reference which they can use to inform their future decisions and behaviour.

What are the Human Values?

According to the SSEHV Program, there are five basic Human Values that are universal and common to all of nations, cultures and religions. They are Truth, Right Conduct, Peace, Love and Non-Violence.
