Parent Council

Student success is the main focus of effective schools, and research shows that there is a clear connection between genuine parent involvement in schools and student achievement. The Sathya Sai School and the Sri Sathya Sai Education Trust of Canada believe that parental involvement is crucial for achieving their mission for Human Excellence and a balance between academic and character education. The Sathya Sai School therefore has an active Parent Council which meets at 6:00 p.m. on the second Monday of every month, unless notified to the contrary. All parents are welcome to attend these meetings.

The school's Parent Council plays an active part in supporting the school's programs and activities. The council comprises nine parent representatives, one trustee, a staff representative, two community representatives, and the principal. Council members help at various school functions such as the year-end concert, parent-teacher interviews, Open House, and field trips. The Parent Council also organizes a monthly pizza day for students (a very popular event), a very successful Walk for Values in May and a colourful and enjoyable Sports Day in June. The Parent Council also subsidizes the cost of field trips when requested.
